그저 "눈은 눈으로" 만으로는 온 세상을 눈먼 장님들로 만들고 말 것이다. - 마하트마 간디.

  

간디는 "눈은 눈으로"라는 정의를 실현한다면 인간 모두가 죄짓고 사는 사람들이라 그런 정의에서 벗어 날 수 없다는 것을 잘 알고 있었던 사람이다.  눈은 눈으로는 함무라비 법전에도 있었고 구약에서도 죄지은 사람들을 다루는 바른 정의의 법칙으로 내려진 정의이다. 간디가 한 위의 말구를 제대로 이해한다면 그런 정의의 법이 실제로 실행되는 경우에는 그 대가를 치루지 않고 면할 자가 하나도 없다는 말도 된다. 그러므로 은혜의 구주이신 예수는 그의 생전에 산상수훈의 하나로 다음과 같이 그의 자녀들에게 복수는 하나님에게 맡기고 하지 말며 오히려 아가페 사랑으로 처신하라고 가르치시면서 정의의 구현은 최후의 심판을 하여 모든 인류를 정죄할 하나님의 몫이라고 가르치셨다. "또 눈은 눈으로, 이는 이로 갚으라 하였다는 것을 너희가 들었으나 나는 너희에게 이르노니 악한 자를 대적하지 말라 누구든지 네 오른편 뺨을 치거든 왼편도 돌려 대며 또 너를 고발하여 속옷을 가지고자 하는 자에게 겉옷까지도 가지게 하며 또 누구든지 너로 억지로 오 리를 가게 하거든 그 사람과 십 리를 동행하고 네게 구하는 자에게 주며 네게 꾸고자 하는 자에게 거절하지 말라." - 마태복음 Matthew 5:38-42   그런 예수의 말은 아랑곳하고 기독교에 그가 가진 반감으로 해서  간디는 사실상 기독교와 하나님이 준수하는 정의의 법을 비꼬기 위해서 위와 같은 말을 남긴 것 으로 안다.   사실 이 세상에 권력자로 임명받은 자들이 법을 제대로 실현하면 이 세상에서 법을 어기는 사람들이 소수일 뿐일터이나 그들이 먼저 부패하고 타락하여 법을 지키기는커녕 오히려 자기들의 권세를 연장하는 데에 법을 적용하며 힘없는 자들을 구박하고 부려 먹는 데만 써 왔으니 정의가 실현되지 않고 인간들은 오히려 악을 행하는데 담대해진다고 전도서 Ecclesiastes 8:11에서 하나님은 솔로몬 왕의 입을 통해서 알려 주셨다.   악한 일에 관한 징벌이 속히 실행되지 아니하므로 인생들이 악을 행하는 데에 마음이 담대하도다." -전도서 Ecclesiastes 8:11 성경에 밝지 못한 많은 사람들은 예수가 산상수훈으로 한 말을 제대로 이해 못하고 성경의 하나님은 "눈에는 눈으로..." 와 같은 무서운 법은 폐기한 줄로 아는 데 그런 믿음은 억측일 뿐이니 하나님은 그의 법은 구약이던 신약이던 하나도 빠짐없이 다 행하실 것이라고 하셨다. 마태복음 Matthew 5:18 . 그뿐아니라 하나님은 2000여 년 전에 이미 십자가에서 "눈에는 눈, 이에는 이로.." 등등의 정의의 법으로 예수를 그가 선택한 자들을 대신 하여 심판하시고 정죄하셨으며 앞으로 다가오는 최후의 심판에서도 모든 인류를 같은 법으로 심판할 것이니 간디가 예언한 대로 하나님의 법에서 벗어날 자는 하나도 없으렷다. - 유샤인

Gandhi was a man who knew very well that if the justice of "An eye for an eye," is carried out literally in this world, no one could escape the due punishment by the law, for the entire human race live on sinning. The law, "An eye for an eye" was in the ancient code of Hammurabi law as well as in the Old Testaments to deal with those who commit crimes. If we understand literally the quote Gandhi spoke; then when the law was executed to the letter, there won't be any who could escape the due punishment. Therefore, gracious Savior, Jesus, taught His children while he was on this earth in one of the Sermons on the Mount  that the revenge is the portion of the Almighty God who will judge the entire human race at the last judgment, thus commanding them to practice Agape love instead of trying to revenge those who transgress them on their own. "Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:  But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.  And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also. And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away. " -Matthew 5:38-42   Not paying any attention to such words of  gracious Jesus, in his desire to pour out his contempt on Christianity, Gandhi, I believe, said what he said twisting the just principle in the Bible to laugh at it. In fact, if those who are in authorities in this world fulfill the very law faithfully, there won't be many who commit crimes.  But those in authorities were so corrupt and fallen that instead of protecting those who are transgressed by the crimes, they have used the law to subjugate the powerless, misusing the law just to protect their own privileges and interests. Thus instead of justice being realized on this earth,  people are more bent to do evil in this world as well recorded by the King Solomon in Ecclesiastes 8:11 being moved by God. "Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil."  -Ecclesiastes 8:11  Many who are not well versed with the Bible and the true meaning of what Jesus said in the above verse of Semon on the Mount, assum that the God of the Bible actually put aside the terrible law of "An eye for an eye ..." and such belief is in fact a wrong assumption. Bible let us know already that every law in the Old, and New Testament shall be fulfilled to the jot and tittle. Matthew 5:18. Not only that, 2000 years ago on the cross, God had already judged and condemned Jesus on behalf of those whom he had chosen to save, with such terrible law of justice as "An eye for an eye ..." and so on, and in the coming final judgment God will use the same law to judge entire human race, and thus, no one could ever escape the due punishment by the law as Gandhi so well assumed - YouShine
